We are pleased to announce the programme for this year’s postgraduate bioethics conference ‘Bioethics and the Body’ sponsored by the Wellcome Trust, the Policy, Ethics and Life Sciences Research Centre at Newcastle University and Newcastle University.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Bioethics and the Body” and we hope to engage postgraduates and academics alike in discussion on four broad themes: Sociology and the Body, Disability Ethics, the Treatment/Enhancement Distinction and Transhumanism.
The conference will be structured around four key academic talks, punctuated by postgraduate panel presentations, as well as four masterclasses run by the academic speakers.
This year we are delighted to have the following keynote speakers who will be speaking on each of the four conference themes:
John Harris (Manchester) on the Treatment/Enhancement Distinction
Jackie Leach Scully (Newcastle University) on Disability Ethics
Gill Haddow (Edinburgh) on Sociology and the Body
Kevin Warwick (Reading) on Transhumanism
